My Water Cycle By William

The Water Cycle.

The water cycle is something that is not infinite but it still gets us water all around the world. I will be telling you about it. There are four stages in the water cycle and they are Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation and Collection. So by now you should know the water cycle is how you get water. The water we drink or bathe in might be the water cavemen or dinosaurs drunk. The water cycle has been around for 4.1 billion  of years and you thought your granddad and grandma were old.

  1. EVAPORATION

Evaporation is one of the most simple parts of the water cycle. It’s  basically water (liquid) turning into gas. When the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean it turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air. Steam and vapor are pure water. 90% of evaporation is from the water's surface. Oceans lakes and rivers with the the rest coming from plants and about 10% of evaporation comes from plants. Plants help water (liquid) to turn into gas and lift. Plants lose water out of their leaves.

2.   Condensation

Condensation is the hardest part of the water cycle. It is the air gets cold and turns back into water (liquid) forming clouds. This is called condensation. You can see the same sort of thing at home...  Pour a glass of cold water on a hot day and watch what happens. Condensation forms on the outside of the glass. Clouds are actually made entirely out of water, clouds are always drifting to the ground and clouds are very heavy some weigh as much as 30 tons and small ones weigh  2 tons.

Precipitation

Precipitation is basically rain  (or sky juice) but it can also be hail, sleet or snow. It occurs when so much water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.78% of global precipitation occurs over the ocean. Approximately 505,000 km of water falls as precipitation each year and that is a lot… or is it? In tons it is approximately 505,ooo tons. Without it there will be no water as well as no food. You would be dead if there was no precipitation.

Collection

Collection is the end of the water cycle. When water falls back to earth as precipitation, it may fall back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on land.  When it ends up on land, it will either soak into the earth and become part of the “groundwater” that plants and animals use to drink or it may run over the soil and collect in the oceans, lakes or rivers where the cycle starts.

AND THEN IT ALL STARTS AGAIN.

So the water has been around for billions of years. Even before dinosaurs or life was on earth. If water had eyes, ears and a mouth it would know everything about history the earth and its mysteries/secrets. We would not be around if water wasn't and our plants and animals wouldn't to be around to.
